The Shadow Electric open-air cinema welcomes you to a big Season three. We’re back – bigger, bolder and brighter than ever – with a summer of music, food, drink, and a huge program of documentaries, 80s classics, cult flicks from the vault, and the best studio releases of 2013.

Experience Melbourne’s own slice of cinematic paradise, brought to life with top end 2K digital projection, a massive 12m glass matte cinema screen, Dolby 7.1 digital surround sound, and a 30 000 watt soundsystem.

After an epic start, the Band Room season continues with summer residencies by some of Melbourne’s best new bands. Stay tuned for details, and in the meantime check out some of the great music docos screening at The Shadow Electric.

After work or after noon, the bar is open, November through March. Cold drinks, DJs, Ping Pong tables, bands and happy hours apply.

Pierogi Pierogi, Mr Burger, and a host of great vendors will be stationed in the courtyard every night from 6-9pm, for dinner before the show.

The Shadow Electric is located at the end of Johnston Street in the Abbotsford Convent, Abbotsford. Just ride or walk down from Collingwood, or jump off the train at Victoria Park station. For those of you familiar with the Collingwood Children’s Farm, we’re opposite that.

The Capital City cycling and walking path passes the convent site. The St Heliers St turn-off is opposite the entrance to the Collingwood Childrens Farm. Bicycle racks are located onsite between Gate 1 and 3MBS radio station. Additional bicycle hoops are located on the northern side of the Rosina Building, near Lentil as Anything.

*Take the 109, 24 or 42 trams down Victoria St towards Abbotsford and get off at Nicholson St, Abbotsford, or Lennox St, Richmond. It is a 15-minute walk to the convent. Alternatively take the 200, 201 or 207 buses from Lonsdale St in the city and head along Johnston St.

All day parking is available in the carpark opposite the site on St Heliers St for $6 (gold coins are required). There is also a limited amount of 15-minute parking spaces on the street. No vehicles are allowed on the Abbotsford Convent site.
